Milwaukee, Wisconsin is one of the most underrated cities in the U.S. With it’s historic charm and recent gentrification, this city has something for everyone! Here is a guide to your weekend getaway in MKE.
The Milwaukee Art Museum
The Milwaukee Art Museum sits right on Lake Michigan. It was originally created to merge the art collections of the Milwaukee Art Institute and the Layton Art Gallery. It is one of the largest art museums in the country and is both beautiful inside and out. The building has moveable wings, the Calatrava, that are able to close during the evening or difficult weather. The interior of the museum is just as breathtaking as the outside. Apart from the works of art within the museum, the MAM offers many other activities such as MAM After Dark which is a cocktail hour for adults and yoga on some Saturday mornings.
The Milwaukee Public Market
The atmosphere inside the Milwaukee Public Market is something that you have to experience for yourself. It’s the perfect meet-up place for a casual date or to grab a quick lunch. The market features so many local vendors. Home to The Spice House, Brew City Brand Apparel, and so many restaurants, there is no way that you will leave empty-handed!
The Milwaukee County Zoo
Have kids or are you an animal lover? Stop by the zoo for a fun and care-free afternoon. The zoo is home to more than 1,800 animals. Throughout the year, the zoo hosts a number of events for families including movie nights and running events as well. Buy tickets for your visit ahead of time at shop.milwaukeezoo.org/.

Historic Third Ward
The Third Ward is a hoppin’ neighborhood that offers so many options for food, art and shopping. It is home to the Milwaukee Public Market. We recommend grabbing a cup of Colectivo Coffee, admiring the beautiful architecture and browsing the unique shops and boutiques!
A summertime staple. Take some time to go for a run around the lakefront or start a volleyball game with some friends. A great place for photos and views of Lake Michigan!

Only a true Sconnie knows the importance of a tailgate at Miller Park or the hype of a Bucks win. Feel the spirit of Wisconsin run through your veins as you cheer on the best! Grab a local beer and brat to make the most of your time in Miller Park. Enjoy the Klement’s Sausage race as well as celebrations from Bernie Brewer. The new Fiserv Forum is just steps away from some of the best downtown bars and restaurants. Not into sports? Check out both venues for concerts from some amazing artists!

It is no secret that MKE has been producing beer for many years, hence the nickname, Brew City. While you’re in town, take time to tour a brewery (Miller, obviously) or simply take down a pint at the bars on Brady Street. Look out for local beers from companies like Lakefront Brewery, Sprecher Brewing Co., and Leinenkugel’s.
